Almost every evening I stand at kitchen sink and look into our back garden while I’m fixing dinner.
Lately, I’ve been admiring the wonderful late fall colors, particularly of the
Japanese Maple which dominates the space, and a new sculpture we purchased last spring in Santa Fe. The late afternoon light, the very red maple, and the bamboo all together made a glorious picture.
So, of course, over the last few days, with clear skies at near sunset, I picked up my camera to try to capture it.
Sometimes, we just have to look in our own backyard.

Nice, Ellen. Our leaves have lost all color and are all on the ground.

Beautiful. I’ve always thought that Japanese maple leaves are just as breathtaking as the cherry blossoms.

I think I agree! Though I don’t tire of photographing those either. Happy that you are thriving in the Midwest.

Awesome pictures of the beautiful fall in your back yard (with Japanese elements)! Love the colors, the composition and the photographer.

Wow. I did not know that there are so many kinds of red leaves. Very nice. We have not had any cold weather yet so our trees still have mostly green leaves but when they change, they will quickly turn brown and fall off. No lingering beauty. The nearby mountains have had more snow than I have seen in 20 years but we are 20 miles away so it didn’t come our way. We can see winter while sitting on our front porch in 72 degrees.
I like red leaves better.

Thank you for the wonderful Fall memories!!!. I love the reds and yellows. Secondly, I am learning the technique to blur the background and enhance the forefront ground. You accomplished format well.
